Toddlers

Our Toddler Program is designed to support the onset of academics, creating a bridge between infancy and the rising preschool age group for students starting on their educational journey ages 19 months to 29 months.

In the Toddler grade level, students will be introduced to a balanced daily schedule utilizing a mix between fundamental instruction such as, basic letters and numbers and a high level of socialization and artistic expression. Toddlers will experience an exciting world of open curiosity expanding in the subject areas of literacy, mathematics, color/shape recognition and use of fine and gross motor skills to begin on the journey of independent eating and eventually, doodling/writing.

By preparing Toddlers for their academic journey ahead with The Brunswick School, students will feel at ease as their schedules move from a highly social and dependent environment to one of routine and independence creating lifelong learners.

Building a Strong Foundation in the Toddler Years

The early toddler years are a time of rapid growth, curiosity, and discovery. A well-designed toddler education program supports this stage by introducing structure, social interaction, and early learning in ways that feel natural and reassuring. Rather than focusing on academics alone, early education at this age blends play, routine, and guided exploration to help children develop a strong sense of comfort and capability as learners.

At The Brunswick School, our approach recognizes that toddlers learn best through movement, repetition, and meaningful relationships. Daily routines help children understand expectations, while varied activities encourage communication, creativity, and problem-solving. This balance allows young learners to feel secure and prepared as they transition from infancy into a more structured learning environment.

What Sets Our Toddler Experience Apart

Families searching for a school for toddlers often want a setting that offers more than care. They want consistency, thoughtful instruction, and teachers who understand early development. Our classrooms are designed to support small group interaction, allowing children to practice sharing, listening, and participating alongside peers.

Teachers observe each child closely and adjust activities to match individual readiness. Some toddlers jump into group activities right away, while others prefer quiet exploration at first. Both approaches are supported. With time, children often grow comfortable participating, communicating needs, and following simple routines that prepare them for preschool.

A Thoughtful Approach to Early Independence

Our toddler program focuses on helping children build independence at a pace that feels right. Daily schedules include time for movement, creative expression, meals, and rest, helping children understand transitions throughout the day. These routines support early self-help skills such as independent eating, cleanup, and following simple instructions.

Language development is woven into every activity. Songs, stories, and conversations encourage children to express themselves while expanding vocabulary. Fine and gross motor activities help build coordination and body awareness, supporting both physical growth and confidence.
